Long weekend

Well it's official…the holidays are here and the days are flying by faster than I can gather myself to catch my breath and share them on our family blog!  There is just so much to post but we'll start this with our CRAZY weekend!

It started Friday at the girl's school.  It's a tradition that the preschoolers dress up and parade around the school while the older kiddos pass out candy.  I went to help out this year so I was able to snap a few photos and see Emery with all of her adorable preschool friends.

We even got to go by Akira's class and stopped for a photo op!

After the parade it was back to class for some 'streamer dancing!'  What a cool idea- why haven't I thought of this?!

Then there came the mess (see the floor- it only got worse!)…and I remembered why I love that Emery gets to do fun things like this at school! :)

She also got her first report card…

I'm not sure if you can see but there's 1 check mark and that's means developing scored for 'taking off your coat.'  I'm thinking that's not even fair considering we live in the desert and it's still 88 degrees in the last week of October!

Saturday we did gym as usual.  Emery was at her finest- catch her if you can!

Ta-Da!

Then that afternoon we got all dressed up for family photos.  Not your typical family photos where you hire a photographer but the ones where you bring the tripod, some candy and hope you can get at least one shot for Christmas cards, family photos.

We had picked a spot in downtown Phoenix near the historical district a few weeks ago and were excited about the potential in the area, that was until we arrived and saw that there was a Zombie Festival/ Walk!! What?! Seriously, of all days!

People were so in character…it was scary! Akira's going to be a zombie prom queen for Halloween so she was looking for ideas but Emery was not too thrilled.  Poor baby it's a good thing I had the candy to distract her.

We were able to take a few shots and I think we're pretty happy with the results.  Here's a sneak peek but you'll have to wait till Christmas for the rest! :)

Sunday came and went as we attended an Autism walk for my work and then did some house chores.  No pictures to show, you probably wouldn't enjoy us in our cleaning wear! :)

I hope this post wasn't too exhausting for you all. This mom is officially pooped!

Little Girls and ABC's

It's that time of year again…the first day of school has arrived!

It's hard to believe that summer has already come and gone.  But what's even harder for me is my baby, no toddler, no little girl is in preschool and learning her ABC's and 123's.

Can you believe this was only one year ago?

Now look how big she is!

Yes, she'll always be my baby but why can't she just stay little awhile longer!
Have a great year girls; fourth grade and preschool is lucky to have such smart little girls!

To My Daddy

Happy Father's Day to my amazing Dad!

I'm so grateful to be able to call you my Dad!
You have always shown me what it is to love,
to work hard,
and to never settle for anything less than what makes me happy.
Thank you for being my role model and my rock throughout each and every day!

I know we are not together every day but I think of you often and look forward to the time we share.

Love you!

Happy Day

Someone's 'Happy Day' (as Emery likes to refer to birthdays) is coming up so we had a little craft corner tonight at home.  Emery is so into coloring these days…in the tub, on the driveway with chalk, pens, pencil, markers!  You name it, she wants to color with it!

She get's very into her work as you can see…
Circles are lady bugs, lines are Emmy and the rest is just "Pretty Momma?"

It's all about lots of colors and boy does she have quite a selection!
I remember having one of these towers with crayons when I was little that my Gram gave me.  It made coloring even more fun!!

And the finished product...

We hope Grandpa likes it!
