PoOl TiMe

What a beautiful weekend for the pool... so beautiful we were there two days in a row!
Emery had her first encounter with the HUGE bathtub, at least that's what I believe she thought it was. She was mesmerized and a little unhappy at the same time!

First we tested the water to make sure it was just like the bath. Not so much... it was COLD, even though we've reached almost 100 here.

Bathing suits!! That should make it better, right?
We headed home, put on our suits and packed up the stroller (side note: I must say having a stroller is quite awesome, it holds everything my arms can't and more...the only issue I've run into is that I often lose sight of what or should I say who it's for...EMERY!)

Things went much better the second time around. Emery loved watching the water and of course hanging out in her new float. I must say she loved laying out too, just like her mommy! :)

Our first trip/weekend at the pool was a success! This summer the pool will see a lot more of this water baby!

Weekend Rewind

A new recipe...MANGO SALSA
This one was a real winner! I have never been a huge fan of mangos but mix it with peppers and onions and pass the tortilla chips please! It was delicious!
Here's the recipe so try it yourself...it's so easy. Beware of the Jalapeno though, it HOT!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Mix first six ingredients together in large bowl.
  2. 2
Add jalapeno to taste (I usually use about 3/4 of a medium-sized jalapeno, which gives it quite a quick!).
  3. 3
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to an hour to allow flavors to mellow.
  4. 4
Immediately before serving, give salsa a quick stir. May be stored in a sealed container for several days.

Fun with Friends!!
Daddy and Emery waiting for our guests to arrive.
The Boys...(they have all been friends since high school...don't let their good looks fool you, they're oldies :))
And the Girls...(all new mommies too!)

And finally A NEW CAR!!

It was time to say goodbye to my lovely Jetta. After beach trips in San Diego, sunny skies in Gilbert, Snowboarding in Flagstaff, and numerous trips between Arizona and California
(121, 000 miles exactly!!)I had to give it up.
Here is my first family car, the Honda CRV. It's spacious, drives beautifully, lifts me up (literally! I can see so much better!) and even has a sun roof.
I can't wait for all the family adventures and trips that we will enjoy in our new ride!

Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was a Mom -
I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on - Pooped on - Spit on - Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life
so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

Today was so special! My baby girl was so happy and Nathan showered me with flowers and love. I am so lucky to be a mother and wife! I am only as good as I am because of my own mother! Thank you mom for teaching me how to love and be the woman I am today...you are my inspiration, my biggest fan and my friend! Thanks for all you do!

Lions and Tigers and Bears...

Oh my! Emery's first trip to the zoo!
The weather was perfect!...75 degrees and breezy! You know that's a fluke here in Phoenix, especially as we begin to enter the HOT HOT summer days. We packed up the family and put on our walking shoes...
She had to wear her new hat of course!
PHOENIX ZOO here we come!
I guess the anticipation was too much...she fell asleep before we got there and missed half of the animals we saw :)
Even though she's been there a million times over Akira was filled with excitement over every animal.
Komodo Dragons and cotton candy...a perfect match right (Nathan and I hadn't had cotton candy in forever and we were able to convince Akira we needed it!)
My little monkey!

She may not look like one but she acts like one! Silly baby!

The view around the zoo...desert and cactus (oh how I miss California!)
Another perfect family day!

Torn at the heart...

Today was a beautiful but sad day. By beautiful I mean 75 degrees, slightly windy, and included a perfect zoo trip (Emery's first time at the Phoenix Zoo, pictures will be up soon!) By sad I mean my last day on maternity leave. It really is a bittersweet moment. I love my baby girl with all my heart and dread leaving her with anyone other than myself however I love my job and I love that I can say that. I miss the lives I touch everyday and I can only hope my daughter will someday do what she loves as well. It's going to be rough but whenever I get a little sad I will just picture this...

and this...
and this...
and this...
and this...
and this...
and this...
and this...
and this...
and this!!!
I love you baby girl! Mommy will miss you but I will always be thinking about you!

Big Smiles!
I grab everything!
I think I've found my feet...
now if only I could get them into my mouth!
So this is what this is for...cool!
Mom can never get enough pictures!

Happy 3 months baby girl! I've loved every minute, smile, and memory you've given me and I can't wait for more!
